Raquele Magalhães is a most versatile artist with a passion for chamber music, for orchestra playing and for flute teaching. She deploys her musical sensibility in classical music as well as in improvisation, and also in interdisciplinary performances inviting painting or theatre on stage.
She was supported very early on by the flutist Alain Marion, who noticed her when she had just won the First Prize unanimously at the ABRAF National Competition. Alain Marion offered her a scholarship by the French Government to study with the Masters of the French Flute School. She was about to celebrate her 15th birthday in Brazil, where she was studying with Celso Woltzenlogel at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro. In France, Raquele Magalhães successfully completed her studies at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse (CNSMD) in Paris, where she was awarded the First Prize in flute in Alain Marion, Sophie Cherrier & Vincent Lucas’s classes, and she successfully undertook a Third Cycle (PhD) with Philippe Bernold at the CNSMD de Lyon.
She also studied with Philippe Pierlot at the CRR of Rueil-Malmaison and received advice from flute masters such as Jean-Pierre Rampal, Paula Robison, Felix Renggli, Ransom Wilson, Pierre Dumail, Michael Faust, Keith Underwood, Gilles Burgos and Benedek Csalog.
Raquele Magalhães started in May 2021 her collaboration as Principal Flute with Simone Menezes' Ensemble K (France) and sice January 2023 also as Solo Flute with Franz Schubert Filharmonia (Spain). She was appointed Principal Flute with the Shanghai Philharmonic Orchestra (2005-07), the Orchestre des Lauréats du Conservatoire de Paris (2002-05) and was also appointed Piccolo Solo with the Divertimento Symphony Orchestra (2009-2018). She has collaborated with Semyon Bychkov, Myung Whun Chung, Emmanuel Krivine, Daniele Gatti, Zsolt Nagy, Yo-Yo Ma, Josep Pons, Ilan Volkov, Lionel Bringuier, to name a few. Her orchestral activities has led her to collaborate regularly with the Orchestre National de France and the Orchestre National de Lyon, the Orchestras of the Paris, Lyon and Rouen Operas, the Orchestre de Bretagne and the Orquestra Sinfònica de Galicia, among others.
She has performed in renowned venues such as the Cité de la Musique, the Salle Gaveau, the Salle Cortot, the Auditorium of the Musée d'Orsay, the Auditorium of Lyon, the Boulez Saal in Berlin, the Oriental Arts Center of Shanghai, the Auditori Josep Carreras in Spain, the Orgelpark of Amsterdam, the Sala Cecilia Meireles of Rio de Janeiro, the Centro Cultural do Banco do Brasil, the Shiodome Hall of Tokyo, the Museum of Art of Kobe etc.
Raquele Magalhães holds a CA degree in pedagogy and a competitive examination for the Civil Service. She worked with composers Hugues Dufourt and Jérôme Combier on her research thesis: "Musical interpretation: the contribution of the plastic arts". She currently teaches at the CRR in Strasbourg in Strasbourg and at the Académie Internationale de Musique de Flaine.
