Snežana Stamenković was born in Belgrade and completed her vocal studies at the University of Arts Belgrade with KS Prof. Biserka Cvejić. After her studies she received the Danica Mastilović award and the Bahrija Nuri¬Hadžić (Alban Berg’s very first Lulù) award as the most talented singing graduate and began her vocal pedagogic career as an assistant to her teacher at the University of the Arts in Belgrade.
At the ‘Concours International de Chant Mme. Mady Mesplé’ in Nantes (1987) she won the first prize and the FIDOF prize for the best Lied and Mozart interpretation. In the same year she made her debut at the Belgrade National Opera as Susanna in ‘Le Nozze di Figaro’. This was followed by engagements in Zagreb as Ilia (‘Idomeneo’ – first performance in Yugoslavia), Susanna in Ljubljana etc.
After permanent engagements in Trier and Bern, she was engaged at the Leipzig Opera from 1997, where she sang many of her operatic roles, including Micaëla, Mimì, Tatjana, Pamina, Donna Elvira, Contessa (‘Le Nozze di Figaro’), Marie (‘The Bartered Bride’). She has performed in opera and concert in Zurich, Leipzig, Dortmund, Hanover, Antwerp, Paris, Nantes, Warsaw, Athens, Linz, Innsbruck, Bonn and Belgrade.
She has worked with directors such as Kurt Horres, Alfred Kirschner, Peter Konwitschny, Marius Trelinski, Eike Gramms, Dominik Neuner, Nicolas Brieger and conductors such as Ralf Weikert, Hans Wallat, Miguel Gomez-Martinez, Michail Yurowski, Jiri Kout and Lothar Zagrosek, amongst others.
Since April 2002 Snežana Stamenković is Professor of Voice at the Mannheim State Academy of Music and Performing Arts. Since 2007 she is also been the head of the vocal department there.
Her students are prizewinners at ‘Montreal Music Competition’ (2018), ‘Queen Sonja International Voice Competition’ (2017), ‘Maria Callas’ Voice Competition (2017), ‘Concours International de Chant Marmande’, International Singing Competition ‘Feruccio Tagliavini’, International Voice Competition ‘Hariclea Darclee’, ‘Concorso Internationale per Canti Lirici Alcamo’, “Grandi Voci” Salzburg Opera Singing Competition and won engagements at Metropolitan Opera (Lindemann Young Singers Programm), La Scala di Milano (Academia della Scala di Milano), Opera Zurich, Opera Köln, Opera Graz, Nationaltheater Mannheim and Opera Strassbourg.

- To be prepared: selected freely and memorized from the following program: 6-9 Lieder and arias from opera, oratorio and concert. One ore more pieces from Viennese Classics are recommended.
