Today, a singer must be "specialised" in all styles. Therefore, the course is aimed at singers who have either already specialised in baroque singing or who want to broaden their artistic range and profile.


Program:

Henry Purcell: The Fairy Queen

  • Musical rehearsals (individual & ensemble)
  • Voice coaching
  • Performance with WMK Baroque Academy Orchestra in collaboration with Roberta Invernizzi (voice), Elisabeth Baumer (Oboe), Susanne Scholz (violin) and Rebeca Ferri (cello)
  • Cast: up to 7 Soprani, 3 Mezzosoprani/Countertenor, 2 Tenors, 1 Bass. Since the vocal parts in this semi-opera cover a wider spectrum, the roles/arias will be assigned based on the application videos; applicants may also indicate their preferred roles/arias on the application form. The choirs will be sung by the entire cast.
  • Preparation: The solo roles and respective ensembles parts must be studied and memorized by the beginning of the workshop.
  • Edition: Novello (to be found on imslp)
  • Qualification: adequate prior training.
  • Workshop Languages: English, Italian
  • Video: the performances will be recorded; every participant will receive a copy for private use (copyright remains with EMIV).

Application Process:

  • Selection: Please send in a video recording (youtube) of one Baroque Aria and one piece of free choice. An additional online audition is considered.
  • Course Fee: EUR 480, to be paid as:
    • Deposit (along with the application): EUR 200
    • Balance (until 01 June): EUR 280
  • Application deadline: 1st deadline: 01 May (first casting), 2nd deadline: 01 June.
