Studied with Jan Polasek, Martin Ostertag, and Heinrich Schiff. Principal cellist at SWR Symphony Orchestra Freiburg. 1988-2005 professor at Musikakademie Basel, tutor in Gustav-Mahler-Jugendorchester, Junge Deutsche Philharmonie and Bundesjugendorchester. Winner of international competitions (CIEM Geneve; Concerti per Europa, Venezia). Chamber music with Kovacic, H. Schiff, Tetzlaff, G. Rivinius, Altenburger. Soloist with Basler Sinfonieorchester, Tonhalle-Orchester Zürich, SWR Symphony and Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie. Premiered many works, i.e. by Rihm, Krenek, Gielen and Trümpy.

- Program and Preparation: the international concert repertoire. At least 3 works by different composers, one work from Viennese Classics.
